Pontian United Plantations Berhad was incorporated in 1952 and the main business of the Company is focused on palm oil production. On the initial stage, the Company started with 1,600 acres of palm oil plantation in Kukup, Johor. Further expansion undertaken by the Company has contributed to the increase in land ownership with 40,000 acres of oil palm plantation land; the Company has successfully established itself in Johor, Sabah as well as in Negeri Sembilan where the headquarters is located.

Throughout the expansion period, the company has established an Crude Palm Oil processing Mill which runs at 90 metric ton per hour. Other than that, the company also acquired industrial lands and commercial buildings throughout Malaysia. Currently, Pontian United has 15 subsidiary companies which deal mostly in Plantation, Insurance and Property Management.

The palm oil estates under the group include Kukup Estate, Pontian Malacca Estate, Pontian Blossom Estate, Pontian Kerosah Estate, Pontian Subor Estate, Pontian Materis Estate, Pontian Hillco Estate, Pontian Kuril Estate, Pontian Pendirosa Estate, Pontian Subok Estate, Pontian Fico Estate and Pontian Orico Estate. Most of the estates are located in Kinabatangan and Lahad Datu District in the east coast of Sabah.

The Central Operation of the Company is based in Kinabatangan area along the Sandakan-Lahad Datu highway, which is approximately 154 km away from Sandakan and about 78 km away from Lahad Datu town. The main office complex and the palm oil mill are located in Pontian Fico Estate.
